Visit to the CSE Office 1/4/10
OK, so I went to the office and I learned that I have a new case manager. She made me feel that my issues with getting results were because of my previous case manager. While I was at the office, she called my ex-husband and left him a message that she would have him arrested if he did not pay by Friday. He paid 3/4 of what he needed to by that evening. During our converstation, she said that she would respond to emails within 2 business days. So, I emailed her and asked her what will happen if he does not pay the last 1/4 of what was court ordered by Jan 1, 2010. Hopefully she will answer by tomorrow!
Just wanted to share this!

Where to start
Well, I am starting this blog in hopes that it will help others in my same position. If I can somehow create some attention to this issue, maybe we can get the whole process working better for everyone.
Here is my issue:
I left my husband in 1995. We were legally divorced in 1996. After all the ugliness of the divorce (and a perm restraining order), I could say that at least he paid his child support. Well, he did until I was remarried and doing well. He started to get behind here and there. We went to court a couple of times for child support enforcement issues - he paid what he had to. Now, he is really really behind (like 3 years). I filed with Child Support Enforcement a couple of years ago as I cannot afford to hire a lawyer to take him to court for this issue. Their web-site talks about all the great things that their system does and how they will help, but they really do not. There is NOTHING "automatic" about their system. If a NCP (non-custodial parent) is more than 30 days behind, nothing happens unless you remind the Child Support Enforcement office that they are supposed to do something. If you email them, you may or may not receive a response. If you do receive a response, you probably will not understand the reply as it does not correspond with the information on their web-site or what you were told the last time you spoke with someone at the office. If you call the customer service line, they will make a note in your case and your case manager is supposed to contact you. That has NEVER happened for me. I have called countless times, and that has amounted to a big fat nothing! Customer Service has even escalated my case to a manager, and still no response. They only way I have found to get anything done is to go to the office. They really do not like for you to go to the office, but at this point they are forcing me to. Of course, going into the office requires me to take time off of work...
At this time, I have not received a payment since Nov4, 2009. He is on what they call a "purge" payment. He is supposed to pay by the first of every other month the total of his ordered weekly payments (of which in almost 15 years, I have NEVER requested for his weekly support to increase in amount... AND believe me other people in the same situation get WAY more support than I do!), his ordered weekly arrears payment, and an additional amount called a "purge" or a warrant for his arrest will be filed. Jan 1, 2010 the payment was due - nothing....
So, here is my plan. I am going to go to the Child Support Enforcement office tomorrow and remind them that they have to file a warrant for non payment. I am going to tell them that I have started this blog. I am going to ask that a supervisor take over my case and I am going to send a link to my blog to all of the local news stations. We will see if this helps.... stay tuned!
